Brian Kmitta
Director of Olympic Strength and Conditioning
With a career spanning over a decade, Brian Kmitta is a distinguished figure within the Nebraska Athletic Department, having played a pivotal role in shaping the performance of the university's athletes. Brian Kmitta's professional odyssey began in 2009 when he joined the Nebraska Athletic Department as an assistant strength coach. His dedication and expertise did not go unnoticed, as he was later promoted to the esteemed position of Director of Olympic Sports Performance in July of 2019. As a testament to his prowess, Kmitta has taken on the critical role of strength and conditioning coach for the track and field and volleyball teams. Since his involvement with the Nebraska volleyball program in 2014, the Huskers have celebrated numerous triumphs, including two NCAA titles in 2015 and 2017, as well as two Big Ten titles in 2016 and 2017. Kmitta's influence extends beyond volleyball, as he has trained a remarkable 95 All-Americans across various sports, including track and field, tennis, and gymnastics. His expertise even extends to Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs, a four-time world champion wrestler.
